First Aid At Work

The HSE (Health and Safety Executive) require every business as part of their risk assessment process to review the first aid requirements of their workplace, more information on this can be found on our Workplace Requirements section.

The Emergency First Response (EFR) First Aid at Work (Great Britain) course is a HSE approved first aid course for the purpose of meeting the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This programme meets the statutory needs of employers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland needing at least one First Aider on the premises.

The EFR First Aid at Work (Great Britain) course is customised to UK Resuscitation Council basic life support protocols and nationally accepted first aid protocols.

First Aid at Work Qualification

This a 24 hour course normally run over four days with a final assessment of the students skills and knowledge on the fourth day.

The course content covers primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) skills along with caring for specific workplace injuries. The course also reviews COSSH guidelines, RIDDOR , first aid requirements in the workplace, the first aid box and record keeping. At DRD Training we also include training on the use of AED's (Automated External Defibrillator) on our First Aid at Work course.

Completing all course requirements gives participants a first aid at work qualification that is valid for a period of three years.

First Aid at Work Re-qualification

For those who hold a current First Aid at Work qualification due to expire (within 3 months of the expiry date), this program is an ideal refresher.

The course is 12 hours of contact time, normally run over 2 days with a final assessment of students skills and knowledge on the second day.

Course content is a review of the skills taught in the initial program along with an update to any changes in first aid guidelines and regulations.

Upon completion of the program students are the qualified for a further three years.
