By combining our Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses we can create a basic first aid course which meets HSE recommendations for an Appointed Person in the Workplace (you can read more about the HSE requiements here)

This course provides an ideal foundation in first aid for people who may not need to meet with the full requirements of a First Aid at Work Course.

It is perfect for creating confidence to care for minor family emergencies as well as for sports enthusiasts, the self employed and in fact everyone who would like the assurance of being able to know what to do when the unexpected happens.

Combined Basic First Aid Course

Our Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) module teaches you how to deal with emergencies that are immediately life threatening.. You will focus on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure you have the knowledge, understanding and confidence to use your skills. Here are the Primary Care (CPR) skills:

  • Scene Assessment
  • Barrier Use
  • Primary Assessment
  • Rescue Breathing
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Learn how to help a conscious choking adult
  • Serious bleeding management
  • Shock management
  • Spinal injury management

You can then continue on to the Secondary Care (first aid) module which covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening or when local EMS is unavailable or delayed. You focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice. The Secondary Care (first aid) skills are:

  • Injury Assessment
  • Illness Assessment
  • Bandaging
  • Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures

You may also participate in an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training component and have an emergency oxygen use orientation.
